Matchday 36: Review

Leicester City’s coronation had to be postponed as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, but the champagne corks might yet fly as early as tonight. Should Tottenham fail to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a feat they have not achieved since 1990, then the Foxes will put up the biggest party of their 132-year existence as they will be champions with two games to spare.

Elsewhere, the Aston Villa relegation tour took them to Vicarage Road where they put up a brave fight against Watford but came up short thanks to a 3-minute double salvo from captain Troy Deeney that ensured the match ended 3-2 in Watford’s favor. Newcastle took their unbeaten streak to four after beating Crystal Palace, while their possible- relegation rivals Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium where once again, Jermain Defoe was their hero.

West Ham kept their European ambitions on track with a 3-0 thrashing over the Baggies as did Arsenal against Norwich, albeit not in the most convincing manner possible.

So how did I do with my predictions this time round? Let’s see.

Once again, an abysmal 5 out of 9. Liverpool and Manchester City this time upsetting my predictions although to be fair, this has been a recurring theme throughout the season. Hopefully the Spurs-Chelsea fixture boosts me to a 6. It’s been near impossible making predictions this year. However, I still have two chances to get that elusive clean sweep I’ve been looking for. Let’s hope it comes next week.
