Matchday 34 Review

The title race took another turn this weekend, as leaders Leicester were held at home by West Ham in a match that was controversial, to say the least. The Foxes will be hoping that Spurs slip up when they go to the Britannia Stadium this evening to face a Stoke side that has won just one of their last five matches.
Elsewhere, Arsenal’s hopes of mounting a last minute title bid were thwarted by an 81st minute Yannick Bolasie strike that saw Crystal Palace hold the Gunners at home. Now on 60 points, it’s safe to say that Arsenal’s only realistic target is at least a top four finish, even if they win all their remaining matches.

Aston Villa got their long awaited confirmation of relegation after defeat to the Red Devils on Saturday, while Sunderland and Newcastle begun their characteristic late battle for survival after registering convincing wins against Norwich and Swansea respectively.

Let’s see how well I got on with my predictions for the weekend:

Saturday:

NORWICH VS SUNDERLAND

Prediction: Norwich 0-1 Sunderland

Outcome: Sunderland WIN

MAN UTD VS ASTON VILLA

Prediction: Man Utd 3-1 Aston Villa

Outcome: Man Utd WIN

EVERTON VS SOUTHAMPTON

Prediction: Everton 1-3 Southampton

Outcome: DRAW

NEWCASTLE VS SWANSEA

Prediction:Newcastle 1-0 Swansea

Outcome: Newcastle WIN

WEST BROM VS WATFORD

Prediction:West Brom 1-1 Watford

Outcome: Watford WIN

CHELSEA VS MAN CITY

Prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Manchester City

Outcome: Man City WIN

Sunday:

AFC BOURNEMOUTH VS LIVERPOOL

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Liverpool

Outcome: Liverpool WIN

LEICESTER CITY VS WEST HAM

Prediction: Leicester 3-2 West Ham

Outcome: DRAW

ARSENAL VS CRYSTAL PALACE

Prediction: Arsenal 4-1 Crystal Palace

Outcome: DRAW

A below average performance from me, only managing four out of nine this weekend, just like Aston Villa’s season. Let’s hope for a better return next week.
